Attorneys general across the country have filed lawsuits against parties that have helped cause the opioid crisis. In addition, the attorneys general are working together to maximize shared resources, bringing accountability to those who created and have benefited from the epidemic. That work continues through investigations, litigation, and settlements. State and local governments have also targeted opioid makers and distributors in an effort to recoup the billions in tax dollars spent dealing with the opioid epidemic.
About the National Association of Attorneys General

NAAG’s training and research arm
The National Attorneys General Training & Research Institute (NAGTRI) is the training and research arm of NAAG, providing high-quality, non-partisan, and innovative training, research, and resources to state and territory attorney general offices. Created in 2007, NAGTRI is the premier national center for training and research throughout the government legal, law enforcement, and prosecutorial arenas.
NAGTRI relies on the feedback and guidance of the NAGTRI Advisory Board to ensure that it continues to be responsive to the needs of the attorney general community.

The Attorney General Consumer and Prescriber Education Grant Program is funded by the multi-state settlement of consumer fraud claims related to the marketing of the prescription drug Neurontin. The Consumer and Prescriber Education Grant Program is a fund established through a nationwide consumer protection settlement over off-label marketing of Neurontin. Its mission was to train and educate consumers in issues related to the opioid crisis.
